If you entered the temple room on Sunday, December 23, what would you see? A whole group of children, dressed in spiffy dhotis and kurtas, saris and tilak, sitting in the temple room with all the adults and reading the original Sanskrit and translations of Srila Prabhupada’s Bhagavad Gita. What a beautiful sight to see.
“And I declare that he who studies this sacred conversation of ours worships Me by his intelligence.” Krishna Himself encourages this study in his Bhagavad Gita, 18.70.
Following His instructions, TKG Academy Gurukula students and Kalachandji’s Sunday School students participated in this Bhagavad Gita Jayanti festival. Gita Jayanti is the birthday of the Bhagavad-Gita, commemorating that auspicious day when Sri Krishna immortalized his teachings to dear friend Arjuna, over 5000 years ago. The Sunday School students recited the 2nd, 3rd and 4th chapters of the Bhagavad Gita. The Gurukula Upper Elementary classes recited the 9th chapter. Students practiced reciting their particular verses for an entire month to prepare for this exciting day!
Here are beautiful pictures taken by His Grace Prema Sindhu Prabhu.
