Mother Vishakha, an early disciple of Srila Prabhupada, and an accomplished photographer visited TKG Academy students on December 19, 2011, the first day of Winter Break. She showed a beautiful slideshow of her photo journey throughout her life, with principles from the Bhagavad Gita tied in to the beautiful images.

The morning started with a gentle kirtan, led by Vraja and Balaram. Parents joined in with their children and sang while Mother Vishakha set up her slideshow presentation.

There were so many cool pictures! The inside of a cabbage head, close ups of flowers, and even one of a man standing upside down in India, with his head completely buried in the sand! This was an example of False Austerity.

Students were enamored and completely attentive. With her calm gentle demeanor, she asked questions and engaged their minds in learning the message of the Gita through her presentation.

Mother Vishakha has written a beautifully illustrated book, “Our Most Dear Friend” illustrating the basic elements of the Bhagavad Gita for children, with painting, drawings, photographs, montages and simple easy-to-read text. She has also written a book for young adults, “Bhagavad Gita, a photographic essay.”

Dhananjaya Prabhu & Vilasini devi had sponsored her books to give to all the students to take home! Some students sat and started reading them right away.

The morning was completed with delicious donuts brought by Vilasini for all the students. What a wonderful beginning to our Winter Break!
