Excellent grammar and vocabulary is an important part of the foundation of writing skills at TKG Academy. Students study Worldly Wise, Shirley Grammar and High School Level Jensen Grammar as part of their daily literacy practices. Grammar is the sound, structure and meaning system of language. In order to become effective writers, students learn sentence structure, specific grammatical terms and transfer oral grammatical concepts to written language. Students grammatical knowledge is reinforced by games, projects and writing activities.

Here is an example of one of the Third Grade projects done this past month, reinforcing Prepositional Phrases.

Students are also taught using Srila Prabhupada’s Books as a basis for their writing.

Here is an example of a student, using Srimad Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 3 Verse 6. The student has been asked to write his own set of sentences with the same grammatical structure as the Bhagavad Gita Verse, identifying the noun, verb, direct object, adverb and prepositional phrases in the text.
