Middle School and High School students visited the John Bunker Sands Wetland Center to see how the North Texas Municipal Water District is meeting a pressing need for water with a unique and natural solution. Here, plants, not machinery, cleanse river water as it flows through lush man-made wetlands. Using this organic process help quench a thirst for water that is growing on a massive scale.
The education programs focus on wetland and river ecosystems, bird migrations and water conservation. Students worked the hands-on labs and traversed the grounds with interest. This life experience using field and laboratory investigations showed them how to solve problems and make informed decisions using Science.
