Location
TKG Academy is located on the north side of Fair Park. It occupies the west end of the 1000 block of Fairview Avenue, near the Winslow exit of highway 67 (I-30) from Dallas to Mesquite. Being located just two miles from downtown, one block north of the interstate makes it easily accessible to all areas of Dallas.
Facilities
A renovated farm house dating back to the late 1800’s serves as the cozy, almost one-room schoolhouse atmosphere. Having been a school facility for over twenty years, the four large classrooms, including a media and computer room, are well equipped with comfortable furnishings conducive to education. The school acquired a special use permit in 1992, when major renovation was begun on the building. Handicapped facilities were included as part of the renovation structure. The school boasts a newly acquired playground area under the shade of a beautiful pecan groove and an eight foot high security fence surrounding the area. The new playground has three fort areas, two slides, several climbing structures, picnic tables and six swings. The safety of children is always of the most importance to the faculty; therefore, rubber mulch has been incorporated in the design of the climbing areas. The playground also sports a half-size basketball concrete court with other play areas designed into the court.
In the near future, we hope to have as neighbors across the street, the East Dallas Montessori preschool facility. Then we can insure a care and education facility from birth through high school within a one block area in a safe, drug-free environment.
