One beautiful day in January we went to Kalachandji’s Park conveniently located just out of our side gate with the purpose of filling each of our collection bags with pecans. Before hand we all made estimates as to how many pecans it would take. A few days later we counted each bag of pecans to see how close our estimates were to the actual number in our bags – real and hands on applications of our Math lessons and good practice counting. Some of us got more than 200 pecans!

Since then we have also made many funny pecan animals – – owls, caterpillars, spiders, and butterflies.
