Wow!  The first two weeks of school have been such a success!  The 1st and 2nd graders are ready for a great year of learning.  Here is a peek of some of the activities.

2nd graders  jumped right into Math with a birthday chart.  Current reading is from a book of stories called Stay A While.  It will provide a quick review of last year’s concepts and focus on comprehension.   Students have started work on Shurely English, which focuses on teaching grammar and composition.  They’ve begun their creative writing journey with Just Write.

For the 1st graders, we are seeing what everyone remembers as we complete our first lessons of the new year.  There is definite improvement in reading and handwriting skills.  Thank you parents for working with them over the summer.  Write About Me is the 1st grade creative writing book.  Students wrote all about themselves, their families, where they live, their likes and dislikes.  Here are some samples of their work!

They also made a pictograph for math:  “Cars, Bikes, Trucks or Vans.”  Students were excited about that!
