Titiksava Karunika Prabhu teaches Computer Class to the 4th-8th graders every Wednesday. Here he describes what the children have been learning.

“The first course that the kids learned was computer hardware. They built an entire computer out of components themselves. They learned everything from RAM to Mother Board to CPU even learned about and installed a power supply in the case.  The computer that the children built became the fourth computer that the kids are using in the classroom and they built it themselves. I didn’t even touch it, they made it themselves and the screws and everything.

The second course was learning Power Point.  How to create slides, add images, make changes, make a dynamic presentation that will be very helpful for them in their future education.  The children did much research and completed their own presentations on any topic they chose.  We attached the laptop to the TV in Mother Jayanti’s classroom and each child showed their Power Point presentation for the whole class to see. 

The third course which we are about to start is building basic web pages in html.

And the last course is going to be basic scripting – multimedia. Building slide shows or mini games. Background programming in multimedia…and light scripting. That should take us right up to the end of the year.”
